Chasity Delorme: The Tools to Heal Are Within Us

Jul 14, 2025

Tânsi and Welcome Back

Welcome back to the Matriarch Movement Podcast—a space for Indigenous voices, intergenerational healing, and cultural reclamation through story, wellness, and ancestral knowledge.

In this episode, host Shayla Oulette Stonechild is joined by Chasity Delorme—educational psychologist, advocate, and mother—for a powerful conversation on truth, healing, and Indigenous ways of knowing.

Indigenous Healing is Innate

Chasity Delorme is a proud member of the Cowessess First Nation. Her journey into education, community work, and advocacy is deeply rooted in her lived experience and cultural identity. In this conversation, Chasity speaks to the power of intergenerational healing and the importance of acknowledging where trauma stems from in order to move through it.

She reminds us that the tools to heal already exist within Indigenous communities—and within ourselves.

The Role of Matriarchs & Cultural Revitalization

We discuss the roles of matriarchs in community leadership, and how reclaiming our languages and ceremonies plays a key role in healing. Chasity emphasizes that traditional practices aren’t just supportive—they’re transformative. They offer an antidote to the lasting impacts of colonial trauma and disconnection.

Chasity also shares her vision for genuine reconciliation—not just as a policy, but as a lived, relational, and daily act.

About Chasity Delorme
