On September 6th, 2025, the Matriarch Movement hosted our first Medicine Circles x Full Moon Ceremony on the land in Medicine Hat, Alberta, gathering Indigenous women, girls, and Two Spirit relatives for an evening of reflection, release, and renewal. Guided by Elder Angie and Knowledge Carrier Wes, the ceremony took place on the land with a fire beside a Cree tipi, beginning with full moon and women’s traditional teachings and offerings, followed by a sharing circle and fire ceremony to honour prayers for healing, strength, and guidance. Shayla Oulette Stonechild led participants through meditation and light movement, helping the group ground into what they were ready to let go of and open their hearts to new intentions under the full moon.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Community Support Fund for making this gathering possible. Their support allows the Matriarch Movement to continue fostering spaces for Indigenous-led wellness, ceremony, and intergenerational healing – strengthening community connection through shared teachings, storytelling, and the act of coming together in circleᐊᐧᐦᑯᐦᑐᐃᐧᐣ (wahkohtowin).
